January 15 - Estimated Tax Payment
If you are self-employed or have other fourth-quarter income that requires you to pay quarterly estimated taxes, they must be postmarked by January 15.
April 15 - Tax Day
April 15 is the deadline for filing individual tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service for previous calendar year.
Individual Tax Returns Due for last year: If you haven’t applied for an extension, e-file or postmark your individual tax returns by midnight on April 15.
Individual Tax Return Extension Form Due for last year: If you need more time to prepare your tax return, you can file for an extension to push your deadline back to October 15.
1st Quarter Estimated Tax Payment Due: If you are self-employed or have other first-quarter income that requires you to pay quarterly estimated taxes, they must be postmarked by April 15th.
Last Day to make a prior year IRA Contribution: If you haven’t already funded your retirement account, do so by April 15. This is the deadline to contribute to a IRA or HSA.
June 15th - 2nd Quarter Tax Deadline
2nd Quarter estimated Tax Payment Due: If you are self-employed or have other first-quarter income that requires you to pay quarterly estimated taxes, make sure you get those payments postmarked by the deadline.
September 15 - 3rd Quarter Tax Deadline
3rd Quarter estimated Tax Payment Due: If you are self-employed or have other second-quarter income that requires you to pay quarterly estimated taxes, make sure you get those payments postmarked by the deadline.
October 15 - 4th Quarter Tax Deadline
4th Quarter estimated Tax Payment Due: If you are self-employed or have other third-quarter income that requires you to pay quarterly estimated taxes, make sure you get those payments postmarked by the October 15 deadline.
Mid September - Required Minimum Distribution
Don’t forget to plan now for any Required Minimum Distribution requirements that you may have due this year!

October 15 - Extended Individual Tax Returns Due
Extended Individual Tax Returns Due: If you filed for an extension on your prior year return, it must be completed and postmarked by October 15.
November 1 - SIMPLE IRA Notification
The deadline for SIMPLE IRA Notifications to Eligible Employees is November 1
December 31st - RMD Distributions have to be taken
Required minimum distributions have to be taken for individuals age 73 or older by the end of 2025
- After taking your first RMD (for 2024) by April 1, 2025, if you turned 73 in 2024, you also need to take your 2025 RMD by the end of the year. This is also the deadline if you are otherwise required to take an RMD for 2025.
